ESSAS Scientists Involved in Upcoming IPCC Reports

Two members of the ESSAS Scientific Steering Committee will be co-authors of the next International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report scheduled to be released in 2013. 

Jim Overland of the United States, who has chaired the ESSAS Working Group on Climate Prediction, will be one of the lead authors in a chapter of the IPCC report that will address ‘Detection and Attribution of Climate Change: from Global to Regional’. Ken Drinkwater from Norway and Co-Chair of ESSAS is one of the review editors for a chapter of the IPCC report that will address ‘Ocean Systems’.

Two other scientists who have taken part in ESSAS activities will be involved as lead authors in other chapters of the IPCC report. Svein Sundby of Norway will be a lead author of the chapter on ‘Open Oceans’ and Ann Hollowed will be a lead author of the chapter on the ‘Polar Region’.
