ESSAS 2020 cancelled due to COVID-19

Dear all submitters of abstract and participants of ESSAS ASM 2020,

We regret to inform all of you that the ESSAS Annual Science Meeting (ASM) 2020, scheduled on 31 May-5 June 2020 in Sapporo, Japan, is canceled as a proactive measure against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in Japan and foreign countries.

The Science Steering Committee (SSC) and Local Organizing Committee (LOC) decided to cancel the ASM in consideration of the following concerns:

1. current domestic and foreign situation
2. government guideline to postpone or cancel the group event
3. risk of infection and any possible inconvenience related to quarantine after traveling to Japan.

The SSC and LOC watched the situation carefully and decided to reschedule the ASM in 2021. In terms of abstracts which have already been submitted, we offer all of those with accepted abstracts the option to update their abstracts without having to resubmit their abstracts for approval. We will also open up for additional or new submissions.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Hopefully, you and your family stay healthy.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need further information (haradan@jamstec.go.jp)
